The Paul G. Duke Health Center

Paul G. Duke, a native of Warren County came to the Troy area after World War II.  He and his son Richard operated the Duke Garden Centers in Troy and Piqua.

Over time the Duke Garden Centers developed into ChemLawn Corporation.  Their resources consisted of its shareholder employees, one used truck and 500 customers.  In 1987 when it sold, ChemLawn was a coast-to-coast business.  They provided lawn, tree and shrub care to both residential and business customers.  Mr. Duke died in 1991.

Mr. Duke’s strong belief that the “family is most important” led him to become the primary benefactor of Clear Creek Farm, which operates two family-like residences for children.

The values that Mr. Duke held so strongly have been passed down to his daughter, Patricia Duke Robinson.  As president of the Paul G. Duke Foundation, Pat carefully reviews and evaluates grant requests to ensure that the projects they fund will have a lasting effect on those most in need of help in Miami County.

When Health Partners began the capital campaign to build a new facility, Pat and Thom Robinson boldly made the lead donation for the building project.  Today, we are honored to have a facility named after Mr. Duke – The Paul G. Duke Health Center.
