Why Volunteer

Health Partners would not be here if not for our volunteers.  Last year (2008) physicians and nurses provided more than $150,000 worth of time to the clinic.  Add to that the number of volunteers who answer phones, manage medical records, schedule appointments and all the other tasks that have to be done and you can see that it would be impossible for us to pay for the generous donation of time our many volunteers provide.

So why should you volunteer – for Health Partners or for anyone else for that matter?  Several reasons are listed below……

Learn or develop a new skill

Would you like to improve your goal setting, planning and budgeting skills?  Consider planning and implementing a major fundraising event.  Supervising and training other volunteers can sharpen your managerial skills.  Both of these would help enhance career opportunities.

On a totally different note, providing graphic support or artistic talent can provide an outlet for your more creative talents

Be a part of your community

Volunteering is a way to impact the well being of others.  It can be your way to connect with your community and give something back.

New Experiences

Volunteering brings people together from many various backgrounds and walks in life.  The other volunteers you work with as well as the recipients of your volunteer efforts can provide inspiration and lasting relationships

Watch less TV

On average, volunteers are as busy as those who do not volunteer.  Still, they find time to serve others.  One way they do that is by watching less television than non-volunteers.  In fact, people that do not volunteer watch 436 hours more of television each year than volunteers do!
