Students prepare to work on Drug RepositoryEdison Community College Nursing Students help with drug repository

During the 2008 calender year, Health Partners gave away more than 9,000 prescriptions.  The need for prescription assistance has become so large that it could become difficult to manage.  But with help from Edison nursing students, Health Partners is moving forward to take advantage of free medications which can then be given to Health Partners patients.

As part of the students’ community clinical experience they will help sort, inventory and prepare medications for patients.  This is a win-win opportunity for the students, Health Partners and the uninsured residents of Miami County.

With the help of Wright State nursing students, the Free to be Healthy program will begin in May and continue through November 2009.  Patients chosen to participate in the program will be learning about nutrition and exercise.  The goal of the program is to educate patients on simple lifestyle changes that can greatly improve their health and help with weight loss.
